I am an engineering executive and technical leader specializing in taking complex, deep-tech research and scaling it into production-ready enterprise systems.

With a career spanning deep learning video analytics, biometric identification, and edge computing infrastructures, my focus is on building high-performance engineering organizations. I operate at the intersection of advanced research and strict business execution—ensuring that cutting-edge technology delivers reliable, measurable value without accumulating architectural bloat.

Global Perspective & Industry Breadth

Since 2000, I have lived and worked across Finland, Chile, Spain, the U.K., and Germany. This global footprint extends to the industries I have operated in, ranging from heavy mining and automotive to 3D scanning and real-time media processing.

Having navigated the operational extremes of both agile, early-stage startups and massive global corporations (150,000+ employees), I have a pragmatic understanding of the governance, processes, and cultural adaptability required to successfully run an international engineering department.


Engineering Leadership & Execution

Transitioning deep-tech architectures into stable commercial products requires more than just good code; it requires structured leadership. Since 2011, I have progressed from a hands-on Computer Vision Engineer to Head of Research, overseeing the entire lifecycle of technology development.

  • Organizational Scaling: Proven track record of building and mentoring cross-functional engineering and research teams from the ground up.
  • Operational Strategy: Extensive experience managing departmental budgets, defining strategic roadmaps, and implementing rigorous agile software development processes.
  • Infrastructure & MLOps: Defining the deployment standards. I have hands-on experience setting up robust CI/CD pipelines, MLOps frameworks, and strict containerization strategies to ensure advanced machine learning models survive first contact with production environments.

Deep Tech, AI & System Architecture

I maintain deep technical credibility, allowing me to effectively guide senior architects, AI engineers, and research scientists. My expertise spans both physical-world perception and modern generative system design.

  • Computer Vision & Deep Learning: Deep expertise bridging "traditional" geometric CV (3D-reconstruction, optical-flow, SLAM) with state-of-the-art deep learning methods for video analytics and biometric identification.
  • Applied AI Architectures: Designing production-grade systems utilizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI workflows. I focus on integrating these frameworks securely into enterprise backends, building complex semantic architectures that prioritize data privacy and reliability over transient hype.
  • Systems Implementation: Writing high-performance algorithms in C++, designing robust media processing pipelines, and architecting the distributed systems required to process high-throughput data at the edge.

Foundations & Philosophy

My academic background includes a B.Sc. in Industrial Automation, an M.Sc. in Computer Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision. The transition from theory to commercial reality is a core theme in my work.
