This is a tutorial about non-linear (scalar) diffusion, modelled using a PDEs (Partial DIfferential Equation) and an efficient way of solving the equation. The solver used here is based on AOS (Additive Operator Splitting) scheme that uses a TDMA (TriDiagonal Matrix Algorithm). The tutorial consists of both a PDF explaining the model and the solver in details, and of a Matlab code. In the the tutorial I have tried to explain all the steps as clearly as possible. The tutorial also serves as a primer into the PDE based image treatment. The figure below shows results, for an image from the DRIVSCO project, using the diffusion function.
